Scars & Facial Scars
Erase the Past
Which treatment option is best for me?
During your consultation, your skin type and scar will be evaluated and a customized treatment program will be developed. This may include a combination of treatments to optimize your results. In some cases, certain types of scars can only be improved and not completely eliminated. Your treatment expectations and results will be thoroughly discussed during your consultation.
Surgical Excision
This option is typically for scars that are deeply pitted, raised, or for older surgical scars that did not heal properly. Generally, the scar tissue is removed, which is then followed by careful stitching of the skin to leave a much smaller or thinner scar line.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
This treatment is excellent for acne scarring as well as for sun-damaged or aged skin. The laser vaporizes the damaged skin and during the following weeks, the thermal damage to the deep tissue stimulates new skin growth, promoting a health new collagen layer as well.
Laser Skin Rejuvenation
This is a non-invasive approach in which the laser energy penetrates the skin damaging the deepest tissue layers. The damage causes the skin to repair itself and stimulates the production of collagen. As the underlying skin thickens, the top layers of the skin begin to contour more smoothly. Multiple treatments may be recommended. This treatment option works well in conjunction with microdermabrasion for certain scars.
IPL Skin Rejuvenation
This is a non-invasive approach in which intense, pulsed light energy penetrates the skin, damaging the deepest tissues layers. The damage causes the skin to repair itself and stimulates the production of collagen. As the underlying skin thickens, the top layers of the skin begin to contour more smoothly. Multiple treatments may be recommended. This treatment option works well in conjunction with microdermabrasion.
Chemical Peels
Depending on the skin type and scar to be treated, a superficial, medium, or deep chemical peel may be recommended. In addition to removing the top layers of the epidermis, chemical peels are noted for their ability to stimulate collagen synthesis and aid in production of new skin cells. Depending on the type of peel, multiple treatments may be required.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, exfoliating treatment helpful for those unhappy with scars, acne scars, sun-damaged skin, pigmentation spots, stretch marks, fine lines, and rough skin. Treatment can be performed anywhere on the body. This treatment works for scarring, especially when used in conjunction with other modalities.
By the time we reach our adult years, our skin has been exposed to environmental damage, acne, chicken pox, scrapes, burns, and other numerous phenomena. As part of the skin’s natural healing process, a scar is formed when several layers of the skin have been damaged. Presently, there are diverse treatment modalities available to address various forms of skin scarring. These treatments can dramatically reverse, improve, and renew your skin to its natural, healthier state. Many seek solutions not only to achieve healthy-looking skin, but also to improve their image and self esteem.
What are the treatment options?
Today, there are many treatment options which, when properly chosen for the specific type of scar and/or skin type, can greatly improve and repair your skin to its natural and healthier state. These treatment options include surgical excision, laser skin resurfacing, laser skin rejuvenation, intense, pulsed light skin rejuvenation, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, dermabrasion, cortisone injections, and bleaching or age defying, softening topicals.

QuadraLASE™ Laser Treatment for Wrinkles

What is the QuadraLASE™ laser?
The QuadraLASE™ is a fractional therapy CO2 laser for skin rejuvenation that delivers many tiny dots of laser light in a unique QuadraSCAN pattern. This pattern helps reduce heat build-up in the skin during treatment. The result is a treatment that is fast, more comfortable, and requires less downtime than traditional resurfacing – enabling you to get back to your lifestyle sooner. The QuadraLASE™ has been proven effective in enhancing skin tone and texture, eliminating the effects of the sun and aging on the skin, smoothing lines and wrinkles, skin “tightening”, and even lightening acne scars. Treatments range from mild to aggressive based on the extent of the rejuvenation you’re looking for.
What can I expect during a QuadraLASE™ treatment?
Your practitioner will ensure you are as comfortable as possible; most patients are reclined or lying down depending on the area being treated. Both you and the practitioner will wear protective eyewear. An anesthetic will be applied to the area to be treated and your practitioner will adjust settings on the QuadraLASE™ according to your specific skin type and the treatment being performed.
How do I know if QuadraLASE™ treatments are right for me?
Ideal candidates for QuadraLASE™ are in their 30’s or older with skin damaged by exposure to the sun; age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, rough texture, acne scars, and other skin imperfections. It is ideal for anyone seeking younger looking skin without the long downtime associated with conventional resurfacing procedures.
What areas can be treated?
Most skin areas of the body can be treated. The most popular are the face, neck, and chest. You should discuss your options with your physician.
What is the QuadraLASE™ procedure like?
You can expect some moderate discomfort during the treatment, but the anesthetic applied prior to the procedure typically makes any discomfort tolerable. For more aggressive, higher power treatments, your practitioner may recommend a subcutaneous anesthetic, oral pain relievers, and/or sedatives during the treatment session. Over-the-counter pain relievers may be taken in the days after the procedure to alleviate any resiual discomfort.
Is QuadraLASE™ safe?
Yes, the unique QuadraSCAN delivery system of the QuadraLASE™ helps minimize heat buildup during the procedure to minimize risks associated with the procedure. You should speak with your practitioner about your complete medical and skin history to minimize the potential for any negative reactions.
How many QuadraLASE™ treatments will I need?
Generally, you will see the difference you want after only one treatment. In the days after the treatment your skin will gradually look and feel softer, smoother, tighter and fresher. The fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, and uneven textures will show immediate improvement.
How long will the results last?
The durability of QuadraLASE™ results approaches that of surgical procedures. However, there are a number of variables that will determine how long you can expect the results to last including: your health, age, and how you care for your skin after treatment.
What can I expect after my procedure?
Immediately following the procedure you can expect a sensation similar to a sunburn, lasting several hours. Cooling soaks and moisturizers are indicated. Your skin will likely appear decreasingly pink and swollen for 3-14 days after your treatment. During this time you can expect peeling of dead skin from the treatment area; this is part of the natural exfoliation process and will last from 7-10 days.
Do I need to take any special precautions after treatment?
Your practitioner may recommend a short course of antibiotics to minimize any risk of infection. Use of a moisturizer and sunscreen are highly recommended during the healing process and for the weeks and months following treatment.
Are QuadraLASE™ treatments covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic and aesthetic procedures. Some carriers will, however, cover the treatment of disfiguring scarring – whether from acne or other injury. Please consult your insurance carrier for more details.
How much do treatments cost?
Cost depends on the area being treated, the condition being treated, and the aggressiveness of the treatment themselves. Speak with your practitioner to create a treatment plan to meet your personal needs.
